"The SPIE Photonics West 2026 conference in San Francisco was a unique opportunity to present my work and exchange ideas with researchers from all over the world and from very diverse backgrounds. It was also a chance to learn new knowledge and skills in the biomedical, physics, and computer science domains, especially during the presentation sessions. At the poster session, I received advice, feedback, congratulations, and even met teams whose papers I had cited in my work! I also had the opportunity to pitch my work to an audience of about a hundred people, which was a completely new experience for me, but also incredibly enriching. Finally, I attended presentations by my colleagues from the Biomedical Engineering Department of Universität Basel, including my internship supervisor, a PhD student, who presented some of my work." - A.
