Platforms

HealthTech relies on world-class local infrastructures promoting and hosting research, offering outstanding experimental opportunities for researchers and students.

IRIS platform  Imaging, robotics and innovation for health

The IRIS platform, at the University Hospital campus, develops and maintains medical technology prototypes and facilities to support clinical and translational research. The platform provides a unique access to both human and small animal imaging facilities, including:

  • 3 MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scanners mainly used for research - a 1.5T and a 3T for clinical research, and a 7T for small animals
  • small animal optical imaging (OCT)
  • tissue and cellular imaging (confocal microscopy)
  • therapeutic ultrasound and ultrasound imaging
  • endoscopic systems.

This privileged environment for scientific activities in Strasbourg offers material and expertise, for the acquisition, analysis and interpretation of data for preclinical and clinical research.

The IRIS platform also includes robotic facilities: a multi-material 3D printer, robotic teleoperation and collaborative manipulation devices and sensors. Facilities in robotics are supported by the EQUIPEX ROBOTEX, a national network of robotic platforms of excellence.

IHU clinical and translational research platform

With 2000m² of experimental platform, IHU Strasbourg is unique worldwide and offers a wide panel of services and support in experimental and preclinical research studies. The facility provides several experimental operating rooms for medical imaging and surgery, fully equipped with high-quality equipment, including:

  • a CT-scan (computed tomography scan)
  • a 1.5T MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) system
  • a CBCT (cone beam computerized tomography) system
  • two ultrasound systems
  • two mobile imaging systems with C-arms
  • etc.

The state-of-the-art platform also offers a perfect background for the development of hospital information technologies (operating room management, hybrid surgery). Within HealthTech, this will be a unique opportunity to offer the most advanced tools for research in the surgical and medical imaging fields, with renowned expertise in all minimally-invasive techniques.
